Volts to eV calculator

In the design, debugging and maintenance of electronic circuits, it is often necessary to convert between voltage units. Use our Volts to eV calculator to easily convert volts to eV and improve work efficiency.

Volts to eV Calculator

Conversion using elementary charges

If we want to calculate the energy (in eV) gained by an electron at a given voltage, we can use the following formula:

E(eV)=V(V)Γ—ee=V(V)

But here e/e is actually 1 because we are considering the charge of a single electron so, for a single electron, the volt value is directly equal to the eV value.

However, if we want to consider the energy gained by multiple electrons (or any charged particle) at a given voltage, and we know the total charge (in coulombs) of these particles, we need to use the second equation.

Conversion using coulombs

If the charge, Q, is given in coulombs, and we want to know the energy (in eV) obtained by these charges at a given voltage, we can use the following formula:

E(eV)=V(V)Γ—Q(C)1.602176565Γ—10βˆ’19

This formula gives the energy (in eV) by converting the charge from Coulomb to a multiple of the charge of the electrons (i.e., how many electrons have a charge) and then multiplying by the voltage.

Application of Calculators in Solar Power Generation Systems

In the design and analysis of the electrical components of a solar power system, such as the battery bank, inverter, distribution network, etc., it may be necessary to perform accurate calculations of parameters such as voltage, current, and power. While the Volts to eV Calculator itself is not directly used for these calculations, understanding the relationship between voltage and electron volts helps to provide a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of electrical systems.

For example, when evaluating the efficiency of converting DC power output from a solar panel to AC power (via an inverter), understanding the conversion between voltage units can help engineers better understand the losses in the energy conversion process.
