Watts to VA Calculator
Watts to Volt-Amps (Volt-Amps, or VA for short) can be calculated by simply typing in your Watts value and power factor (ranging from 0 to 1) to instantly get the corresponding VA value. Whether you are designing, selecting equipment or managing power, this calculator is your indispensable assistant.

Watts to VA formula
Watts to VA calculations are actually based on the conversion between two different representations of power. Watts are units of real power, while Volt-Amps (VA) are units of apparent power. Ideally, if the load is purely resistive, then Watts and Volt-Amps are equal. However, in loads that contain inductors or capacitors, the Volt-Amps will usually be greater than the Watts due to the presence of reactive power.
However, if we think only in terms of mathematical conversions, and assume that the load is purely resistive (i.e., a power factor of 1), then the βWatts to VAβ conversion is very simple:
With a power factor of 1:
VA=Watts
However, to keep the calculator generic, we can allow the user to enter the power factor (although in most cases we may not know the power factor if we only know the Watts value).
