The 100w panel easily mounted on my roof rack, just needed to drill some holes in order to line up the mounts. I used heavy duty Velcro to mount the PWM and BT1 inside the cab. I have the system hooked up to a 200ah Lifepo4 battery, which is also in the cab. The system produces between 60 and 70 watts between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Before and after is a mix of 50s and low 60s. I live in Southern California, to reference the type of sun I’m getting. The system would produce more, but it’s limited with the PWM. If you want more, go with the MPPT instead. It works great for my needs though. I run a 60L ICECO dual zone fridge. This system keeps the fridge running and battery pretty much constantly topped off.
I replaced an 8-year-old 100W Renogy panel with this 200-watt panel. I don't have any data to back up this claim, but I feel like the 100W panel had deteriorated over time.
I use the panel to keep a 55aH AGM battery charged. The battery powers a Nest cam that draws 0.2-0.3 amps 24x7, and an LED light that draws around 1.2 amps that is on from dusk until dawn. A 200W panel is total overkill for this use, but I need to compensate for a suboptimal location with a lot of tree cover. It's also not facing true South, but it's in the ballpark. This time of year it gets maybe 2 hours of full sun due to the tree cover.
The old panel was putting out 1.5 amps @ 13V (19.5 watts) best case in full-ish sun. This panel, under the same conditions is putting out 6.9 amps @ 21V (145 watts). I installed the panel yesterday afternoon as the sun was setting, and the battery was completely dead. After about an hour in the sun with this new panel, the battery is completely charged!
Short Winter days were my nemesis with this arrangement, but I'm confident this panel will keep the battery topped off all year round.
We have bought several pairs of these over the last 5 years. We keep expanding our setup. These produce good power, do well out in the weather and are easy to wire. Can't beat the price.
This is a great quality solar panel. I have had a few other small trickle panels and a cheap flexible plastic one (total waste of money) and I am really impressed with the power and quality of this panel. It is really too strong for a trickle panel, but i find I can put it in the shade and it works fine with less power and it will totally charge up a "dead" car battery in no time (paired with a cheap charge controller, made mobile safe by hot glue gunning wiring points). I bought a panel this strong because I got a great sale price on it. Very worth it. Small enough to be portable and easily moveable and will fit on my dash even and large enough to really kick ass, charge up a lead acid battery and all my 5 volt usb lights and devices. Great for camping. My only problem with this panel on the onset was that it came with Renology MC4 connectors attached and I had trouble deciding whether to buy more of those or rip off the MC4 connector and just convert to 12 volt automotive water proof connector I already had on hand. For my uses, I was better off without the MC4 (a waterproof rating not size rating) I decided, and I finally pried them off and converted to the 12 volt auto connector, but the psychological block really impacted my project.
Tested and works even when it's cloudy. I recommend.
